From the graceful flight to the intricate patterns on their wings, butterflies are a symbol of transformation and grace. While spending my free time at the balcony with a breath-taking view, I encountered with a tiny creature which took all of my attention. Yes! While researching more about this creature, I came across with numerous facts about it. It is widely referred as Orange Oakleaf whereas its scientific name is Kallima Inachus. However it is also recognized as Indian Oakleaf or Dead Leaf in different regions. With wings closed, it closely resembles a dry leaf with dark veins and is a commonly cited example of camouflage. One of the amazing fact is that this butterfly is the national butterfly of INDIA.

Mostly, the dead leaf butterfly stays on the ground with fallen leaves or on tree trunks, but it occasionally visits flowers. It feeds on rotting fruit and animal dung, and its natural predators include birds, ants, spiders and wasps.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the orange oakleaf butterfly is its life cycle. From a tiny egg, it transforms into a caterpillar, and then undergoes a magical metamorphosis inside a chrysalis. Finally, it emerges as a stunning butterfly, ready to grace the world with its presence. These butterflies are often found in tropical and subtropical regions, including parts of Asia and Africa. They are known for their graceful flight and delicate movements, floating effortlessly from flower to flower, spreading joy wherever they go.
